Although we are still waiting for September 2021 security patch details for Galaxies, we get to see the new software update support plan of Samsung. Well, there are more changes and additions happened other than the demotion of Galaxy Note 9.
In August 2018, the Galaxy Note 9 debuted in the global market with Android 8 (Samsung Experience UX) on board. A year later, Samsung rolled out Android 9 update with One UI benefits such as a whole new yet better user interface than the previous one.
Last year, the popular Galaxy Note device grabbed Android 10-based One UI 2.0, followed by One UI 2.1 and One UI 2.5 update. And unlike the Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 9 is not compatible with third Android OS upgrade anyhow.

However, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 smartphone needs to spend its remaining time on the One UI 2.5 software system on top of Android 10, the phone maker will continue to give new security updates on a quarterly basis for at least one year.
Apart from this, the Galaxy Note 9 should also be eligible for Samsung’s extended four years of security and maintenance updates guarantee for Galaxy devices. In the added fourth year, the Galaxy handsets will get new security updates two times in a year.
