Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 is out for Pixels, DND gets big upgrade

The Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 update is here, giving Pixel users a sneak peek at what’s coming before the official release in March 2024. These updates usually bring bigger changes than regular monthly updates, including new features and design tweaks. They are not as big as major Android updates, but they are important and offer improvements to the overall system.

With the Android 15 QPR2 Beta 1 update, Google is giving the “Do Not Disturb” feature a major upgrade by introducing customizable “Modes.”

These new modes are designed to help you minimize distractions and better manage your focus throughout the day. You can set up different modes for things like sleep, work, driving, or anything else that fits your needs.

In this updated system, “Do Not Disturb” is now just one of several modes you can choose from. Other existing modes, such as Bedtime, Game Dashboard, “Google,” and Pixel Stand, are still available, but they’ve now been grouped together in a new “Modes” section within the Settings app. This makes it easier to access and switch between different modes depending on your activity or situation.

The update also includes the November 2024 security patch and is available for a wide range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and even the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. It’s also available for the Android Emulator, so developers can test it out.

If you’re enrolled in the Android Beta program, you will automatically receive this update via an over-the-air (OTA) download.

If you run into any issues, Google encourages users to submit feedback through the Android Beta Feedback app. You can find it in the app drawer or through Quick Settings, and there’s also a community on Reddit for discussions and help.
