Google accidentally reveals Jarvis AI that can take over computers

Google accidentally revealed a new AI called Jarvis when (reported by TheInformation) it was briefly available on the Chrome Web Store. This AI is not just a simple helper like a weather app or a reminder for doctor’s appointments. Instead, it’s designed to do things like buy groceries, book flights, and do research by surfing the web on your behalf.

The AI can take control of your computer to do these tasks without needing you to do anything manually.

For example, you could tell Jarvis to find and buy groceries online, and it would go to the website, select items, and complete the purchase for you. The idea is to make tasks easier by automating them through the web browser.

However, when a reporter tried to use it, they couldn’t get it to work. Jarvis was still in an early stage and required certain permissions that weren’t granted at that time.

Google quickly took down the preview page by the afternoon, saying it wasn’t ready for public use and planned to officially reveal it in December.

Jarvis will face competition from other AI assistants, such as Claude, created by a company called Anthropic.

Claude can also control computers and do similar tasks, like typing text and clicking buttons, making it a strong rival to Google’s Jarvis. But for now, we’ll have to wait until December for a full release.
