Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a major reorganization at Google to enhance collaboration and efficiency among its teams. The Gemini app team, which focuses on AI developments, will now be part of Google DeepMind, allowing for quicker feedback and deployment of new models. This shift is intended to build on the progress they’ve made with AI technologies.
Sundar Pichai states “bringing the teams closer together will improve feedback loops, enable fast deployment of our new models in the Gemini app, make our post-training work proceed more efficiently and build on our great product momentum.”
Meanwhile, the teams working on Google Assistant for devices and home experiences are moving to the Platforms & Devices division, which includes products like Pixel phones and Android. This change will help them work more closely with the hardware they’re developing, improving the overall user experience for smart home initiatives.
Prabhakar Raghavan, who has had a long and impactful career at Google, is transitioning to the role of Chief Technologist. In this position, he’ll focus on guiding technical direction and fostering a culture of innovation across the company.
Nick Fox, who has been with Google for many years and has contributed to various projects, will now lead the Knowledge & Information division. His extensive experience includes launching successful AI features and enhancing Google’s product offerings across Search, Ads, and more.
