Google‘s YouTube Premium users might not be happy with the latest news. According to a Reddit thread, Google has increased the prices of its YouTube Premium subscription in nearly a dozen countries.
Both individual and family plans have seen significant increases, which is surprising since the prices were already raised in many areas just a few months ago, including the US.

Google has reportedly emailed YouTube Premium subscribers in these countries, explaining that the price increases will help them “continue to deliver great service and features” and support the creators on the platform. This is similar to the language used during previous price hikes in the US.
A Reddit user from Sweden shared a screenshot of their notification showing a dramatic 60% price increase. However, it’s worth noting that this could also be related to tax differences when paying through Apple instead of directly through Google.
A user from Denmark commented that this price hike makes YouTube the most expensive streaming service, even more costly than a subscription to Amazon Prime, Netflix, and HBO combined.
