Google: Pixel Watch Wear OS 5 Rollout Stopped, Fix In Development

A few days ago, Google rolled out the Wear OS 5 update for Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 users, based on Android 14. This update was meant to improve the experience on the smartwatches. However, the rollout has now been paused after some users reported issues that caused their watches to soft brick.

A Google spokesperson confirmed that they halted the update due to a problem affecting some Pixel Watch owners. They’re currently working on a fix. As a result, many users are unable to download Wear OS 5, even after repeatedly checking for updates in the settings.

While most users were able to install the update without issues, some have encountered a black screen with just a small Bluetooth logo during the process.

The cause of this issue isn’t clear yet. For those affected, the temporary solution involves resetting the watch from Fastboot and setting it up again. If you have a Google One backup, this process should be straightforward.

Although this workaround is helpful, it’s not the ideal situation for users. Google’s decision to pause updates until the issue is resolved is a decision that prioritizes user experience and ensures everyone can safely enjoy new features.

Hopefully, they’ll have a solution soon so everyone can enjoy the new features of Wear OS 5 without any hassle.
