The Google Pixel 9 has introduced an innovative feature called Adaptive Touch, which automatically adjusts the screen’s touch sensitivity based on your environment.
This new feature is enabled by default and aims to improve usability in different conditions, such as when your fingers are wet or when you’re using a screen protector.
With Adaptive Touch, the Pixel 9 can enhance touch sensitivity when the screen is wet, providing smoother scrolling and interaction compared to previous models like the Pixel 8 Pro.
Users have noticed that scrolling remains consistent even with damp fingers, a significant improvement over the erratic touch behavior on older models.
Currently, Adaptive Touch is exclusive to the Pixel 9 series smartphones. This means that if you have a Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, or an older Pixel model, you won’t have access to this specific feature. However, Google may choose to roll out similar technology to future Pixel devices or through software updates to existing models.
If you own a Pixel 9, you don’t need to manually activate Adaptive Touch, it’s already turned on by default. You can adjust or disable it by going to Settings > Display > Touch sensitivity if you wish.
As of now, there’s no word on when or if Adaptive Touch will become available for other Pixel phones, but it’s an exciting advancement that could potentially be included in future updates or new Pixel releases.
