Google has made it easier for users of Pixel phones to check if their device is overheating. In the past, Pixel users had to rely on third-party apps to see their phone’s temperature.
Now, with an update to the Pixel Troubleshooting service, Google has added a built-in feature that shows the temperature of the phone in real time.
This new feature comes after an update to the Pixel Troubleshooting app (version 1.0.693922709). While this update wasn’t available directly from the Play Store, users were able to sideload the app, which allowed them to access the live temperature readings right away.
To check the temperature on your Pixel, you need to go to Settings > Battery > Battery diagnostics, and look for a message that says “Phone is very warm.”
The feature is available on Pixel 6 and newer models, including the Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be available on the Pixel Tablet. Once you have the updated app, you should be able to see the temperature reading of your phone in real-time.
This new option is a helpful addition for Pixel users, as in the past, it was difficult to check how hot the phone was running.
Overheating can be a concern for many smartphones, and it’s especially relevant for Google’s Pixel devices, which have had a reputation for running warm. With this update, users can now quickly see if their phone is too hot and take action if needed.
In fact, testing has shown that the Pixel 9 series tends to run hotter compared to older models, but it’s worth noting that the Pixel 9 Pro XL has shown improvements in handling stress tests.
Hopefully, future Pixel phones will offer even better temperature management, and users won’t have to worry about their phones getting too hot.
