Fitbit has introduced two new features, Cardio Load and Target Load, to help you track your fitness on the Google Pixel Watch 3, and now these features are available on Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and various Fitbit devices.

Cardio Load tracks how hard your heart is working during exercise and daily activities. It gives you a number that increases as you do more physical activity. This score helps you see how much strain you’re putting on your cardiovascular system.

Google says that it’s useful for tracking progress and also for making sure you don’t overtrain. The Cardio Load takes into account not just how long you exercise, but also how intense the activity is, since more intense exercises put more strain on your heart. Your Cardio Load score goes up more if your heart rate is higher during exercise.

Target Load suggests a healthy range for your Cardio Load. This range considers your fitness level, how much activity you’ve done recently, and how well your body has recovered. You will get your first Target Load after wearing your device for seven days and nights.

These features were included in the December 2024 Pixel Feature Drop, which started rolling out on December 9. In September, Google also made the Daily Readiness Score free for users.

The new Cardio and Target Load features are now available on the following devices:

  • Pixel Watches: Pixel Watch 1, Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3
  • Fitbit Devices: Inspire 2, Inspire 3, Luxe, Sense, Sense 2, Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa 4, Charge 5, Charge 6

If you use a Pixel Watch, you can see your Cardio Load and Target Load directly on the watch in the Fitbit Today app or on complications and Tiles. For other Fitbit users, you can find your Cardio Load in the Fitbit app under the “Activity” section.

Make sure your app is updated to the latest version. To set it as your focus in the app, go to the Today tab, tap the pencil icon, choose “Build cardio fitness,” and save.
