With the release of Android 15, Pixel devices are getting a new feature: a Home Controls screensaver powered by the Dreams app. This update, now available for Pixel phones through the Play Store, enhances how users interact with their smart home controls. Originally launched for the Pixel Tablet in 2023, the Dreams app was designed for Hub Mode screensavers, showcasing features like Weather Frog, full-screen clocks, and slideshows of Google Photos.
Now, with Android 15 (carried in Beta 3), the Home Controls screensaver has been added, which mirrors the Home controls you can access from your lock screen or Quick Settings. This feature is especially useful for Pixel Tablets, as it keeps essential controls visible while the device is docked.
Pixel phone users can also enjoy this new screensaver. To access it, simply go to the Settings app, then navigate to Display & touch, and select Screen saver. You’ll find the Home Controls option alongside classic screensavers like Clock, Colors, and Photos. This update means the Dreams app is now integrated into Pixel phones, allowing a seamless experience.
Recently, Google released an update for the Dreams app (version 2024.09.09.672896649.2) specifically for Pixel phones running Android 15, which previously only received updates for the Pixel Tablet. While this update doesn’t bring immediate user-facing changes, it sets the stage for better functionality in the future.
Additionally, the Dreams app now powers the Google Photos slideshow when your phone is charging on the Pixel Stand, turning it into a dynamic display of your favorite memories.
