The latest ad in Google’s #BestPhonesForever series is out, and once again, it’s taking a playful jab at Apple.
Recently, Google has released a new ad that playfully compares its Pixel phone to the iPhone, focusing on its AI features. The ad is set around Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, and begins with the iPhone enthusiastically sending Diwali greetings to the Pixel.
The iPhone wants to share its excitement for the upcoming Apple AI updates by wishing the Pixel could have some of those features, too.
The iPhone starts by hoping the Pixel will someday have a live conversation feature with “Gemini” (Google’s AI). But the Pixel happily responds, saying it already has that! Surprised, the iPhone then wishes the Pixel could summarize unread emails. Once again, the Pixel replies that it has had this feature for months.
Finally, the iPhone tries a new wish, hoping the Pixel could magically add someone into a group photo even if they were the person taking it. But the Pixel quickly tells the iPhone it can already do that, too, using a feature called “Add Me.”
In a friendly moment, the iPhone admits that Pixel is already quite advanced and asks what Pixel would like for Diwali. The Pixel’s sweet response? “The world’s best friend,” hinting at how much it values its users.
This new ad comes just as Apple is working on rolling out its own AI tools. Rumor has it that Apple will add features like email summaries and other AI functions to iPhones with iOS 18.1.
Apple recently started testing some of these features in the iOS 18.2 beta, hinting that it may catch up to Google’s Pixel in AI soon.
