Over the weekend, many Android users received a notification saying, “Your Android has new features.” This new message comes from Google Play services and introduces exciting updates for non-Pixel devices, like Samsung Galaxy and Motorola smartphones. It looks like Google started rolling this out to a wider audience at the end of September.

When you tap on the notification, it opens a fullscreen display that highlights eight new features available on Android. Each feature comes with a brief description and steps on “How to get started,” along with information about where to find it.

There’s also a “learn more” link that directs you to Google’s support page for further details. Most of these features have been available for a few months already.

Your Android has new features

Here’s a quick look at the features mentioned:

Circle to Search: You can now instantly translate text on your screen. This feature has been available since March. There’s also a new option to search QR codes and barcodes right from your screen, introduced in September.

Google Lens: This lets you point your camera at objects and ask questions, providing helpful information.

Google Photos: Features like Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Portrait Light, and Magic Editor make editing your pictures easier. The camera question feature has been around since March.

Google Wallet: You can add QR codes and barcodes to your wallet, making it easier to access your passes.

Google Messages: You can now send messages with full-screen effects, adding a fun twist to your conversations.

Google Safe Browsing: A new green shield icon helps keep you safe from online threats.

At the end of the carousel, you get a summary of all the features, but it’s unclear how to return to this page after you first view it.
